Wood is still the fence most homeowners picture first, and cedar is the wood to build it from. White cedar and Western red cedar both carry a natural resistance to moisture, decay, and insects, so the fence holds up through Capital Region winters whether you stain it, paint it white, or leave it to silver on its own.

We install cedar in every common style: spaced picket for front and side yards, tongue-and-groove privacy panels that look the same on both sides, Victorian 2×2 picket, solid stockade panels in heights from 3 to 8 feet with flat, arched, or scalloped tops, lattice accents and toppers, and split rail for property lines. Pressure-treated pine is available where budget comes first.

How long does a wood fence actually last?

With regular care, 15 to 20 years is typical. Cedar resists rot naturally, while pressure-treated pine needs a stain or sealer every few years to get there.

Cedar or pressure-treated pine, which should I pick?

Cedar costs more but resists rot and insects on its own, with a warmer natural grain. Pressure-treated pine is the budget-friendly option and holds up well once it’s stained or sealed.

Do I need to stain or seal my new fence?

It’s worth it if you want to slow down graying and warping. We can talk through a schedule that fits the wood you pick when we’re out for your estimate.

Do you handle permits and property lines?

Yes. We walk the property line with you and handle town permit requirements before we dig, and we give layout and height guidance based on local code. If a survey is needed we will tell you upfront.

What areas do you serve?
